Meet Florence "Flo"
Counseling Intern

Florence "Flo" Marlowe (She/Her)-
Trauma Informed Therapy
Grief & Midlife Transitions

Becoming a therapist has been a lifelong calling for Florence- rooted in a desire to transform her own healing journey into meaningful support for others. She is especially drawn to how early attachment wounds shape a person’s sense of identity, emotional patterns, and the ways they move within their most intimate relationships. Florence feels honored to accompany clients as they explore these deeply human experiences

Specialties:

  • Trauma informed counseling for adults navigating attachment wounds, grief, and life transitions

  • Holistic support for women in midlife exploring emotional shifts and identity

  • Culturally responsive, integrative therapy rooted in mindfulness and somatic practices

  • Therapist for complex grief, emotional regulation, and self-compassion

  • Supportive counseling for creative professionals and entrepreneurs

Clients who work with Florence often come in feeling disconnected, emotionally overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns rooted in early life experiences. Her approach offers a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and listen to the quieter parts of yourself. Whether you are grieving a major loss, navigating a life transition, or unpacking relational pain from the past, Florence provides a compassionate presence to help you move toward healing.

She brings a warm, trauma informed lens to her work, integrating somatic practices, breathwork, and mindfulness to help clients create safety within. Her style is attuned, curious, and grounded in the belief that healing doesn’t come from fixing yourself- but from finally allowing yourself to be fully seen, heard, and understood.

Therapy with Florence is especially supportive for:

  • Women navigating emotional shifts of midlife
  • Adults healing from childhood emotional neglect or attachment wounds
  • Individuals going through grief, caregiving, or anticipatory loss
  • Clients seeking deeper self-understanding and emotional clarity
  • Those who want to reconnect with a sense of purpose, creativity, and wholeness

Clients describe Florence as gentle, intuitive, and deeply validating. Her sessions offer room for all parts of you, the confident, the unsure, the hurting, and the hopeful- to coexist and be met with compassion. With a deep respect for culture, identity, and nervous system pacing, Florence supports each person in finding grounding and inner safety at their own rhythm.

Her work is enriched by:

  • Parts work (IFS) to explore internal patterns and protective responses

  • Mindfulness and values-based living to support emotional regulation

  • Somatic and body-based practices for grounding and trauma recovery

  • Relational presence and cultural humility to foster trust and authenticity

What it means to be trauma informed:

Being trauma informed means that your therapist understands how past pain, loss, or overwhelming experiences can shape the nervous system, relationships, and daily life. Being trauma informed is not only about talking through the past. It is about creating safety, choice, and empowerment in every session.

A trauma informed therapist:

  • listens with curiosity rather than judgment

  • pays attention to how stress shows up in the body

  • moves at the pace of the client

  • respects boundaries, identity, and lived experience

  • focuses on emotional safety before digging into difficult memories

Trauma can surface as anxiety, irritability, perfectionism, withdrawal, or a constant feeling of being “on alert.” A trauma informed approach helps clients notice these patterns with compassion, not shame. Florence supports clients in reconnecting with their bodies, building emotional regulation, and strengthening the sense of self that may have been impacted by early attachment wounds or significant life transitions.

Working in this way helps people feel grounded, seen, and more in control of their internal world. Healing does not require rushing. A trauma informed therapist walks beside you, helping you understand what happened and how it is still showing up today, while also building skills and resilience for the future.
